Assignment 2: Are you a "good" digital citizen?? Due Monday March 3rd

How would you describe a good digital citizen? Does it mean simply thinking about what you say and post online, or is it more than that? What about digital literacy and cyber tricks?
Many of your assignments in this course involve posting your thoughts online, creating projects using online tools, and using pictures and videos from other sources, all of which require a certain knowledge of how to act ethically and safely in the digital universe. You've already learned a little about Creative Commons, which is a good start... this assignment will get you thinking further about net-iquette and how to maintain a credible online presence in secondary school and beyond... You don't want to have copyright infringement issues when creating a presentation for your boss, right?
Read the following article: 9 Elements of a Good Digital Citizen
Watch a few of these videos: Five Minute Films – Videos on Digital Citizenship
Now, check out the following website: What Does Digital Citizenship Mean to You? Make sure to look at the infographics!
For this assignment, you will make either a Prezi or a Glogster that illustrates what YOU think makes a good digital citizen... it may get used in Grade 8 orientations next year!

Blogging 101!

Blogging is: reading, thinking and participating.

You are leaving a permanent mark on the digital world... so think before you post, always! If you wouldn't say something to someone in real time, then re- think what you are writing on your blog. Always be polite and respectful to your readers (which includes teachers and your peers!)
Here are some tips to help you:
1. Students should only use their first names
2. Do not include any of personal information on your blog, and do not include personal information about anyone else (phone number, address, names of anyone, etc.)
3. Never be disrespectful of anyone, and don’t say anything that could offend someone
4. Don’t write about others without their permission, and don’t post photos of others without their permission
5. Link to your sources
6. Copyright rules always apply. Make sure everything you use is copyright free, and be extra careful with sound and images.
7. Proofread your comment for spelling and grammatical errors.
8. Save abbreviations and shortcuts for texting with your friends
9. Always use appropriate language
